Internacional striker Dagoberto will meet with Botafogo in the coming days to decide whether he is interested in a move to the Rio de Janeiro side.

Botafogo have held discussions with Internacional over Dagoberto, 29, and the two sides are believed to be encouraged that a deal could take place, with the Gaúcho outfit hopeful of acquiring a couple of Alvinegro players in exchange for the forward.

With the player currently on holiday and Christmas set to put proceedings on a back burner for a few days, Botafogo executive director Newton Drummond hopes to pick up the pace once more ahead of the new year.

“It’s true that we are in conversations, because there is interest there. We are just trying to sort out a few things,” he told Radio Tupi. “We will now go to the player and see if he thinks it is a good offer. We are still looking for an agreement. We will stop for Christmas and start again on the 26th. I can say that the negotiations are in good shape. Nothing is sorted, but it’s going well.”

Botafogo are thought to be close to an agreement with former PSV Eindhoven defender André Bahia, who is currently out of contract, while also looking to add striker Grafite to their squad for the 2013 campaign.
