Globo Esporte are reporting on Sunday that Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho wanted to sign Paris St-Germain’s new forward Lucas Moura but was denied by the club.

The report reveals that Lucas was one of the Portuguese coaches transfer targets in the summer and believe the clubs refusal to comply could be one of the reasons for a breakdown in the relationship between the coach and president Florentino Perez.

Lucas was felt to be overpriced by Perez, who eventually signed Luka Modric from Tottenham instead, and the president also refused Mourinho’s request to sign a back up goalkeeper.

On Saturday night Mourinho decided to send a message the president by dropping the captain Iker Casillas. However the move backfired and Madrid lost 3-2 to Malaga, heaping more pressure on the former Chelsea boss.

“If I fear for my job? No, no way, in no time,” he told reporters after the game.

“I’m not a child. We coaches, we know that football has no memory and only has what is done today. No account of the work, not the titles.

“If I feel that the players do not want to, I’m too honest to fight a losing battle. But the players want. They made a game to win.”
