Sandro’s Tottenham missed a chance to go third after they were held to a goalless draw by Stoke City at White Hart Lane.

Vote for Sandro in the 2012 Samba Gold Trophy

Andre Villas Boas’ side failed to break down a stubborn Stoke defence who held on for their fifth goalless draw of the season, the most in Europe.

In a game of few chances, Gareth Bale had the best chance with an effort from just six yards but contrived to head over the bar.

Sandro delivered another typically industrious performance in the centre of the park but it wasn’t enough to secure the three points as Spurs ran out of ideas.

Tottenham now drop to fifth place as rivals Arsenal and Everton overtake the Lilywhites in the Premier League.

Sandro is one of our 30 nominees for this year’s Samba Gold Trophy which recognises the best performing Brazilian playing in Europe.
