FC Dallas have announced the signing of Vasco da Gama forward Wesley ‘Pipico’ Silva.

The MLS outfit confirmed the deal on Tuesday, pending receipt of the striker’s visa and transfer paperwork.

FC Dallas head coach, Schellas Hyndman, said: “Pipico is a dynamic player who gives us some depth at the forward position and allows us to transition into playing in a 4-4-2 system.

“He is an intelligent attacking player with solid finishing ability.”

The 27-year-old spent five seasons with lower division clubs Floresta, Cabofriense and Bangu before joining Brasileirão outfit Macaé for the 2011 season.

Pipico represented Macaé 36 times, scoring 13 goals, before moving to Vasco in 2012, where he made seven substitute appearances.

Despite his lack of matches, the Brazilian forward has been incredibly productive on the pitch since 2010.

Pipico scored 19 times and created 26 goals during 45 matches in the Brazilian Carioca Serie A and Serie C.

He is the second Vasco player to move to the United States this week, following Juninho’s transfer to the New York Red Bulls on Monday.
