Atlético Mineiro have announced a new shirt sponsorship deal worth $25m over two years, but are unable to reveal the identity of the sponsor.

President Alexandre Kalil announced on his personal Twitter account that with the help of Brazil legend Ronaldo, they secured the deal for the club.

In an interview with Radio Itatiaia, Kalil said: “Ronaldo called me and asked me to receive his personal brand, allow his participation, but I warned him that Atletico do not pay commission.

“He called me, asked to help us out and he participated. Thank God it is another good contract for Atletico, which gives us peace of mind.

“It’s one of the biggest contracts in the history of Brazilian football, of course not as big as São Paulo or Corinthians, but I doubt very much that many clubs in Brazil has a contract worth $12.5m per year.

“I’m happy and delighted. The vendor asked not us to disclose their name because they want to make a super disclosure, but it isn’t Nike.”
