Chelsea starlet Lucas Piazón has defended his post-match comments following the Blues’ 1-0 defeat to Corinthians in the Club World Cup final.

The 18-year-old was an used substitute during Sunday’s title game in Japan, which was settled by a headed goal from José Paolo Guerrero.

Piazón was quoted after the game criticising his Chelsea teammates for lacking character and dedication and stating that only the club’s Brazilian players made an effort,

However, the young striker has now denied making the negative comments via his personal Twitter account.

He posted: “All I said was that Corinthians had more courage to play the final than us, that they wanted more this title and that they played with more passion than us!

“I would never say something about my team mates, I’m just 18 and with them I learn a lot of good things.

“I also said that this title is so important for the South American clubs and that was a dream for me thats why I was so sad.”
