Chelsea midfielder Oscar has admitted that the Londoners are devastated at losing the final of the Fifa Club World Cup to Corinthians and admitted that they “really wanted this title”.

Oscar, 20, a boyhood São Paulo fan who moved to Chelsea from Internacional this summer, started the final on the bench but even his introduction in the second half could not stop Chelsea losing to Paolo Guerrero’s 69th minute strike.

“Chelsea really wanted this title and we had been training a lot in London (for the tournament). But it happens (defeat). Corinthians played well and deserved to win,” Oscar told Globo TV.

This is the second time that Oscar has tasted defeat in this tournament as he was part of the Inter team that was shocked by TP Mazembe in the semi-final in 2010. But the midfielder was gracious in defeat and praised the performance of Corinthians goalkeeper Cássio.

“It was a good game. Chelsea have not created as it did. Cassio did some fine save, sand Corinthians seized the opportunity and scored the goal.”
