Real Madrid midfielder Kaká will be dropped by coach Jose Mourinho for Sunday’s clash against Espanyol for his poor performance in Real’s 2-1 defeat to Celta Vigo on Wednesday in the Copa del Rey.

Kaká, 30, has been in good form recently and, despite the club openly keen to sell him, had worked himself back into favour with the Portuguese coach.

But Spanish daily sports newspaper Marca are reporting that Mourinho blasted his team’s performance in the midweek cup game and will take his frustration out on the former AC Milan star, as well as Argentine winger Ángel Di Maria and French striker Karim Benzema, by dropping the trio to the bench.

Mourinho was reported to be disgusted with the attitude and performance of the three players and even went as far to say that Raphaël Varane, who played with an injury, showed more committment.

Kaká is rumoured to be on his way out of the Bernabeu in January, with a number of clubs chasing the Brazilian’s signature.
