Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez has warned his players not to be careless ahead of the Club World Cup final with Corinthians on Sunday.

The Blues beat Monterrey 3-1 to make it through, but Benitez was unhappy with the way Chelsea conceded in the last minute of the tie.

He said: “I’m not very happy with the goal we conceded. “We won, which is fine, but still these little things can make a difference in a final, for example.

“When I talk about a winning mentality, always I talk about little details making the difference. The team have to think about winning, winning in style and not conceding because the goalkeeper likes clean sheets.

“They have to keep their concentration right to the end of the 90 minutes. That’s what they need to do.”

While Benitez won this competition with Inter, he also tasted defeat when his Liverpool side lost to São Paulo in 2006 after the Reds had three goals disallowed in a 1-0 defeat.

“You have to take your chances,” said Benitez, “Now the team knows what we want to do. They have more confidence and are enjoying their football a bit.”
