Veteran goalkeeper Harlei renews contract with Goiás
Veteran goalkeeper Harlei has renewed his contract with 2012 Série B winners Goiás after thirteen years at the club.
The 40-year-old has signed a new two-year deal and will therefore compete in the top flight of the Brasileirão next season.
Harlei has made more than 800 appearances and won numerous titles, including two Série B trophies, since joining the club in 1999.
João Bosco Luz, club president, confirmed the deal on his official Twitter page.
He said: "He is a great goalkeeper of great importance to Goiás, and can be sure he will remain important for another two years."
Karmino Colombini, Harlei’s representative, has praised the president for his handling of negotiations and also revealed the goalkeeper will retire at the club.
Colombini said: "The president, from the first day until the last day, was a good man with integrity to everything he said, and should be congratulated.
"Harlei is headed for retirement in Goiás.
"He was the best goalkeeper in Série B and he is prepared for any situation. Goiás need to find a big name to replace him."
