Corinthians have agreed a major sponsorship deal with sportswear giants Nike which is set to run until 2022.

The deal is thought to be worth in the region of $144.2m to the club over ten years which replaces the current deal which paid Corinthians $7.9m a year.

Nike has partnered Corinthians and sponsored its kits since 2003 and the partnership is renewed ahead of their entry into the Club World Cup for the first time since 2000.

The $144.2m deal would make it the largest sponsorship in the history of Brazilian football, and comes after Corinthians annouced a new shirt sponsorship deal with Caixa Economica Federal.

The government owned Caixa agreed a deal last month with the club to sponsor its shirt to the tune of $14.9m a year until 2013.
