New Cruzeiro signing Egídio believes he can finally solve the team’s problem with the left-back position.

This season, Cruzeiro have tried Diego Renan, Everton and Marcelo Oliveira amongst others in the role, but none of the trio has impressed leading to constant rotation.

Arriving from Goiás, where he impressed as the side’s top assist maker, Egídio believes he can finally offer A Raposa a permanent solution on the left-flank.

“I had a good year in 2012, achieving promotion and the title with Goiás,” Egidio told Radio Globo. “There was interest from several teams, but I managed to sign with Cruzeiro.

“I said I wanted to come. It’s big team with structure. Now I hope everything goes alright. It is all signed, all ok, for four years. I am very happy to have signed. I’ll do anything to succeed.”

The interview comes on a day when Cruzeiro director of football Alexandre Mattos revealed the club are in a healthier financial situation after a year of austerity in 2012.

Egídio will be presented on January 7 along with Cruzeiro’s other new signings for the 2013 season.
