Tottenham boss Andre Villas Boas has hailed Sandro for his superb recent run of form and claims he played a vital role in their 3-0 win over Fulham last week.

Vote for Sandro in the 2012 Samba Gold Trophy

The Brazilian has received plaudits from all directions for his performances in the engine room at Spurs.

Villas Boas told the club website: “He’s such a good player and it’s difficult to single out individuals, but Sandro has been amazing for us.”

Spurs striker Jermain Defoe also weighed in with some praise for his teammate: “He does so much for the team, he works so hard. He’s a real fighter.”

Fellow mifielder Clint Dempsey agreed: “Sandro had the confidence to take the shot, credit to him. That jump-started things, it opened the game up. Fulham had to push more men forward and we were able to find the gaps behind their midfield to release Jermain. It worked well for us.”

Sandro is one of our 30 nominees for the 2012 Samba Gold Trophy, which recognises the best performing Brazilian playing in Europe this season.
