The Daily Mail newspaper report that Premier League side Newcastle United have made an initial enquiry regarding Atlético Mineiro full-back Marcos Rocha.

Marcos Rocha, 23, was only this week named the best full-back of the Brasileirão 2012 and it seems Newcastle have taken note of his potential, having also been called to the Brazil squad for the first time earlier this season.

Rocha joined Atlético from local side Democrata aged 17, but has spent most of his time at the club on-loan, including two succesful years at neighbouring América.

The paper reports that, with Newcastle frustrated in their pursuit of France international Mathieu Debuchy, the club will turn to the Brazilian in order to fix their right-back dilemma—with current occupant Danny Simpson shortly to be out of contract.

The one potential hiccup in the story, though, could be the difficulty of obtaining a work permit for the full-back who has fulfilled few of the requirements set by the UK Border Agency.
