QPR’s Julio Cesar could be set for a return to first team action for Saturday’s game against West Ham United according to reports in England.

The goalkeeper is ahead of schedule after sustaining an adductor injury and could replace Robert Green in goal.

A club official told the Daily Mail: “He is desperate to return to action and, while it would be foolish to take a risk, he wants to play as soon as possible.

“He believes QPR can climb away from the bottom and wants to play his part.”

Club medics are believed to want to hold Cesar back until the clash against Fulham next week amid concerns that he may be rushing his comeback.

The Brazilian goalkeeper is to return to training at the end of the week and will undergo numerous fitness tests as QPR boss Harry Redknapp looks to get the Rs out of the relegation zone.
