Neymar has urged AC Milan’s Robinho to join him at boyhood club Santos as speculation mounts over a possible return.

Robinho has been linked with a move back to Santos in recent days as his old club look to make an impact in the January transfer window.

“I am biased because he is my idol and to have an idol back at the club is always important,” Neymar said.

“If the fans want him, then I want him too. But it’s the president who decides. I always want the best players to come to Santos. The doors are always open to him.”

Robinho helped Santos win the 2002 Brasilerão with an outstanding debut season as an 18-year-old. He also played a crucial role in the club’s league win in 2004 before being sold to Real Madrid in 2005.

Santos coach Muricy Ramalho and Ribeiro have openly stated their interest in the player but admit Milan’s asking price is a barrier to any potential move.
