Lazio midfielder Hernanes has insisted he is ready for a recall to the Brazil national team as he prepares to make his 100th appearance for the Italian club on Sunday.

The 27-year-old has won just eight caps for the Seleção since making his debut back in 2008, as he featured intermittently under Mano Menezes.

However, the former São Paulo player is in line for a return ahead of the 2014 World Cup with new coach Luiz Felipe Scolari at the helm.

He said: “I have confidence in myself and I will take up a place in the national team.

“It’s happened so fast, it seems like I arrived in Rome only yesterday. Instead I will feature against Parma in my 100th game with the Biancoceleste in two years and four months.

“I dedicate my first 100 appearances for Lazio to the fans and to my team-mates. They are the secret of my success.”

Scolari has already endorsed Hernanes soon after his appointment, adding weight to a possible return for the Biancoceleste midfielder.

“Hernanes is having a great season at Lazio. I am following him,” the new Brazil boss said.

Hernanes will make his century of Lazio appearances at the Stadio Olimpico today, when his side take on Parma, which is scheduled to kick off at 14:00 BST.

He has also been nominated for the Samba Gold trophy, awarded to the best Brazilian in European football this year, which the public can vote for throughout December.
