Former Brazil national team coach Dunga will be announced as the new coach of Internacional on Monday, according to Globo Esporte on Saturday.

Dunga, 49, has been out of work since stading down as Seleção coach in 2010 after a poor showing at the World Cup in South Africa, when Brazil were knocked out at the quarter final stage by the Netherlands.

The report on the Globo Esporte website said that an agreement was close and quoted someone involved in the deal, who said:

“Maybe yes. It will depend on the approval of the last condition of the contract. It will be formalised in the morning tomorrow (Saturday), when everything, in principle, should be completed on paper.”

Dunga himself, on Thursday, admitted he was close to signing a deal with Inter and hinted that it was a case of when, not if.

He said: “There is the question of time. The sooner, the better.”

The former Brazil midfielder, who lifted the World Cup in the USA as captain in 1994, is well respected in Porto Alegre as he started and ended his career as a player with Inter.
