Queens Park Rangers keeper Julio César remains a doubt for Saturday’s fixture against Aston Villa at Loftus Road, with Rob Green ready to replace the injured Brazilian.

César, 33, injured his groin in Tuesday’s 0-0 draw away to Sunderland and had to be replaced at half-time by Green, and new manager Harry Redknapp, who replaced Mark Hughes last week, hopes the former Inter keeper won’t be out too long.

“César had an injury, so we’re seeing how it evolves,” the former Tottenham boss told reporters. “He is doubtful for tomorrow (Saturday). We are hoping for it to be just this week.”

However, Redknapp is not worried about having to field Green, who signed on a free transfer from West Ham in the summer, and said he is happy to have two quality keepers.

“Rob is a great keeper, I have always admired jim. He had a fantastic game and saved the game when he entered.

“We are fortunate to have two strong goalies. It is for them to fight to play,” he added.

QPR currently sit bottom of the Premier League with just 5 points, and no victories, from their first 14 games.
