Elkeson took a step closer to a move to China on Wednesday, as officials from Guangzhou Evergrande met with Botafogo to discuss the final details of the transfer.

Elkeson, 23, is the Alvinegro‘s top league goalscorer this season, but is set to join fellow Brazilian Muriqui in China, potentially opening the door for Dario Conca’s return to Fluminense.

The exact values of the deal negotiated are yet to be revealed, but the deal has been reported to be worth around €6 million to the Brazilian side.

Sports newspaper Lance! insist that the Chinese side hope to get the deal sewn-up within the coming days, with paperwork already delivered to China, as the deal is at the personal request of manager Marcello Lippi.

Muriqui’s fellow Brazilians Cléo and Paulão are expected to leave Guangzhou this January after a change in the quota rules, but Elkeson would also join Paraguay’s Lucas Barrios at the Tianhe Stadium.

An attacking-midfielder, who can also operate in a striking role, the former-Vitoria forward reportedly came close to joining Serie A side Bologna earlier this year.
