Atlético Mineiro president Alexandre Kalil confirms Ronaldinho will stay via Twitter
Atlético Mineiro forward Ronaldinho will remain at the club for another year after the club president Alexandre Kalil took to social networking website Twitter to confirm the news.
Ronaldinho, 32, whose contract in Belo Horizonte ends on 31st December 2012, has been heavily linked with a move back to Rio de Janeiro with Fluminense this week, but Kalil has moved to end the speculation.
Kalil's tweet came on Wednesday afternoon and was brief, but will ease fans worries that the star will leave the club.
It read: "Vocês queriam. Ele ficou!" ("You wanted. He stayed")
The former Barcelona and AC Milan star has been in fantastic form this season since moving to the Estádio Raimundo Sampaio, scoring nine and assisting 11 goals in 31 league appearances.
Last week Assis, the player's brother and agent, spoke to reporters about the situation, confirming the player was happy at the club.
"Let us discuss calmly, with tranquillity, he is happy at the club. We have a meeting set for next week," said Assis.
