Goal.com have revealed that Queens Park Ranges tried, and failed, to lure highly-rated Vasco da Gama defender Dedé to the club this summer, with the Brazilian opting to remain in his homeland rather than move to London.

Accoding to the article, Dedé, 24, and Arsenal striker Oliver Giroud were the club’s two main transfer targets this summer as they looked to bolster their defensive and attacking options.

However, despite both deals reaching an advanched stage, Giroud preferred to move to London rivals Arsenal, where no doubt the lure of Champions League football was too much to resist, and Dedé decided to remain in Brazil.

The defender has been linked with a number of clubs in recent months ,including Russian side Zenit St Petersburg, and AC Milan.

Milan are said to see the player as the heir apparent to Thiago Silva, who left to join Paris St-Germain in the summer, and are reportedly prepared to offer Robinho in any deal.
