Galatasaray’s Felipe Melo saved a late penalty in the club’s 1-0 win over Elazigspor after goalkeeper Fernando Muslera was sent off after conceding the penalty.

Melo donned the keeper’s gloves and dove full length to keep out the penalty before wildly celebrating the success.

“I looked into Goksu’s eyes,” the Brazilian told Lig TV after the game. “He looked like he wasn’t sure to me. I didn’t jump too early and waited until the last second to move.

“I really want to thank the fans. I didn’t start the season well but this save is extra motivation for me.”

Melo has become somewhat of a scapegoat for Brazilian fans after scoring an own goal and getting sent off in their defeat against Holland in the 2010 World Cup Quarter Final.
