AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi admits that the injury record of striker Alexandre Pato is causing the club a major problem, with the striker’s development having stalled.

Pato, 23, has suffered 15 injuries since 2010 with the latest causing him to miss several matches in the early stages of this season, all of which is causing Milan difficulty.

Besides relying on the Brazilian to ease the loss of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Paris St-Germain this summer, Berlusconi admits the drastic drop in the striker’s value is also a worry for the club.

“Pato is a problem. We really hope that he can recover from his injuries,” Berlusconi told members of the Italian press on Friday.

“The injuries to Pato pose a problem because he was the Milan player with the brightest future ahead of him. Its a serious issue because you can’t have such a drop in value of one of your greatest assets.”

Earlier this week, Pato was linked with a move away from the San Siro after complaining of a lack of opportunity since falling out of first-team reckoning. The striker has been linked with both Corinthians and PSG in recent days.
