Sandro’s Tottenham can count themselves lucky to escape with a 0-0 draw against Lazio in last night’s Europa League clash at the Stadio Olimpico.

Lazio secured passage to the next round of the competition despite a series of missed opportunities for Czech striker Libor Kozak while Tottenham need at least a draw in their final match against Panathinaikos to qualify.

Tottenham looked to have taken an early lead through Gareth Bale but the effort was ruled out, wrongly according to television replays, for offside.

Despite Tottenham’s early dominance, it was Kozak, starting in the absence of the club’s leading goalscorer Miroslav Klose, who found himself one on one with Lloris but the keeper parried his tame effort.

The Biancocelesti started to take control of the game and cut the Spurs defence open as Kozak missed another gilt edged chance after a superb cross from captain Stefano Mauri left the striker with a simple header, but the striker contrived to head it wide.

After the break, Kozak was once again handed a glorious chance as he pounced upon an error by but could only hit the side netting with the goal at his mercy.Looking for the win,

Andre Villas Boas brought on Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe but Lazio continued to create chances with Hugo Lloris once again saving Tottenham with a superb stop from Ciani’s header in the dying stages.
