Corinthians midfielder Paulinho has revealed he does not consider his role within the Brazil squad safe despite regular appearances under Mano Menezes.

The 24-year-old is set to start for the Seleção again when they take on Argentina in the second leg of the Superclassico das Americas this Thursday.

Paulinho recently started Brazil’s last four games against Colombia, Iraq, Japan and Argentina, in which he scored two goals, but the defensive midfielder was very humble when asked whether he considers his position safe.

He said: “With the national team, I must prove myself every day and every game.

“Moreover, I have to keep a good regularity for club and hope to be recalled. We have had great games, but new challenges ahead.

“There are major players in my area such as Jean, Arouca, Ramires or Sandro. Competition is very strong and therefore I have to prove myself every game. “

The rearranged game against Argentina, which was cancelled due to floodlight failure, is scheduled to kick-off at 00:00 BST at the La Bombonera in two days’ time.
