Bayer Leverkusen star Renato Augusto has recently been the target of a number of clubs looking to bring the forward back to Brazil, but for now the player is concentrating getting back his form after a injury layoff and then his next goal is to get back into Mano Menezes’ Brazil squad.

Augusto, 24, has been out of action due to a thigh injury and made his comeback on Saturday by coming off the bench for Leverkusen in their 2-0 victory over Schalke 04, and number 10 told Lancenet that he is eager to regain his form after the injury.

He said: “I have just got back playing, so I’m still in search of a better pace of play. The important thing is that I do not feel anything where the injury was. Now I just chase the lost time.

“I just got back playing, so it’s normal for me to go into the team slowly. Things will evolve naturally, game after game.”

The former Flamengo star admitted that Leverkusen’s aim this season is to qualify for the Uefa Champions League as he knows it will be difficult to displace Bayern Munich from the top of the league.

“The investment that Bayern did for this season was great. Their campaign so far was almost perfect, but we are not even halfway into the championship yet. At the present they are favorites but much will happen until the end of the season.”

And a personal aim will be to get back into the Seleção squad ahead of the 2014 Fifa World Cup.

“Of course I think about the Seleção, but I’m back playing now and my main focus right now is to be well in Leverkusen. When this happens, I think the other things will evolve together.”
