Bayern Munich defender Dante still hopeful of call-up for Seleção squad for 2014 World cup
Bayern Munich defender Dante has yet to be selected for the Brazilian national team but the former Borussia Mönchengladbach and Standard Liège player is still hopeful of being selected for the Seleção for the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
Speaking to Lancenet, Dante, 29, said it would be a dream to make the tournament.
He said: "With the World Cup in Brazil I have to dream. It was one of the reasons I struggled to get here [Bayern]. We have Thiago Silva (PSG), one of the best in the world, and David Luiz (Chelsea), also a great player, but I'll keep working. Maybe I do not have a chance? It would be the realisation of a dream."
The could be the possibility of Dante switching nationality to represent Germany, like Paulo Rink and Cacau, however this is not something on the mind of the defender.
"That would be cool, but my dream is to play for Brazil. Of course it would be an honour to wear the shirt of Franz Beckenbauer, but my dream is the Brazilian national team and I expect this chance."
