He is a major transfer target for Santos ahead of the 2013 season, but Diego Souza admits he would be open to the possibility of a return to Vasco this January should an off emerge.
Diego Souza, 27, left the Carioca side in June to join Saudi outfit Al Ittihad, only to find himself unpaid in three months and preparing for a return to Brazilian football.
Although he admits he does not yet know what the future holds, the Brazilian is open to rejoining his cash-strapped former side on a free-transfer with his contract status currently unknown.
“I think there were some conversations, but until now… I am here now and I don’t know much,” Souza told reporters from Lancenet on arrival in Rio de Janeiro.
“Hopefully I can rest this weekend with my family and then next week I can visit my team-mates, who I miss, and start thinking about my future.”
