Former Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari believes Neymar can become a better player than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The Barcelona and Real Madrid stars are widely believed to be the best two players on the planet and all three are nominated for this year’s FIFA Ballon d’Or award.

However, the World Cup-winning coach, who was put in charge of the Seleção in 2001, believes the Santos striker can become even better than La Liga pair.

He said: "Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar are the three best in the world.

"Neymar can reach and overcome [Ronaldo and Messi] in the coming years."

The former Palmeiras boss, who was sacked in September, also stated that Neymar would be a perfect fit at Barcelona and that he would relish the opportunity to one day take up the reigns at Camp Nou.

Scolari added: "Neymar would fit perfectly into [Barcelona], because he's a great player and has excellent qualities. Right now he is in Brazil and is very happy.

"In future I would very much want to be the coach of Barça, for the friendship that unites me with President [Sandro] Rosell."
