The contract negotiations between Vanderlei Luxembourgo and the Grêmio board continues but the president-elect Fábio Koff, director Nestor Hein and future director of football Rui Costa, are confident they will be able to strike a deal with the coach to keep him in Porto Alegre after his contract runs out on 31st December.

The future president Koff described the meetings as “very good” and Hein told Lancenet:

“The president Fabio Koff is taking care of this matter directly. We were very confident when President Odone, after the game, said again that he would renew the same contract terms. We are confident that upon his return we can hit the a deal.”

Luxembourgo is currently with the Grêmio team in Colombia to face Millonarios this Thursday in the Copa Sul-Americana. After the game, the coach and players will head straight to São Paulo to prepare for Sunday’s tie against Portuguesa, so it will not be until next week that the talks can resume. However, this suits Rui Costa, who doesn’t want the contract talks to get in the way of the on-field performance of the team in the last few weeks of the season.
