Seleção legend Ronaldo has urged Santos star Neymar to ignore expectations in the lead up to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Ronaldo warned the youngster of the dangers of too much pressure, a topic he knows all too well having suffered a panic attack on the eve of the 1998 World Cup final.

The former striker told Globo Esporte: “If I could give him one piece of advice it would be not to pay too much attention to what people are saying regarding the World Cup.

“He should concentrate on training hard and enjoying his football. That will go a long way to helping Brazil win the tournament.”

Neymar has been surrounded with speculation regarding his future, having been linked with a move to some of Europe’s top clubs with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea all reported to be interested.

However, the youngster has repeatedly told reporters that he will stay at Santos for the forseeable future in the lead up to the 2014 World Cup.
