Saint-Étienne forward Brandão believes the club must continue in the same way after their 2-0 win over Troyes yesterday which has lifted Les Verts to third in Ligue 1.

Brandão had a good chance to score in the first minute of play but second-half goals from Renaud Cohade and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were enough to seal the three points.

The result is Saint-Étienne’s fourth straight victory, following a surprise 2-1 win at league leaders Paris-Saint Germain last weekend, and has put the club within a point of top spot.

Brandão believes that if the Greens continue in the same way they will climb even further up the Ligue 1 table.

The Brazilian said: “The match was very dynamic and we had done our homework.

“The group is motivated and we are gradually climbing in the standings. Work remains and we still have a lot of tough games ahead of us.

“We must always continue with the same humility and simplicity during games and earn maximum points when possible.”

Up next for Les Verts is a short trip to Evian TG on Saturday as they go in search of another three points, which could put them at the summit of the division.
