Barcelona’s Dani Alves has revealed his disappointment at his current form since his return from injury.

The 29-year-old Seleção fullback has started a number of games since his comeback but finds himself competing with emerging youngster Martín Montoya for a place in the team.

Alves told reporters: “I had started well and then after the injury I have had some days without playing. Nobody likes that, but it is too early to judge the season.

“I am not happy with my performance. When you do not play much and you are used to playing, it affects you.

“I am working to get back to full match fitness, which is the only way everything else will arrive.”

Dani Alves is expected to retain his place in the Barcelona team against Real Mallorca today as Tito Vilanova looks to make changes to the side that lost 2-1 to Celtic in Glasgow earlier in the week.
