Queens Park Rangers fell to a seventh defeat in their opening 11 games of the season on Saturday afternoon as Charlie Adam handed Stoke a 1-0 victory at the Britannia Stadium.

Despite dominating possession and creating the better opportunities, the West London side once more failed to convert pressure into goals and conceded in a familiar sloppy manner.

For keeper Julio Cesar it was a relatively quiet afternoon, with the Brazilian helpless when Armand Traore’s lapse allowed Adam to open the scoring for the hosts.

The former Inter Milan star did make a fine late stop low-down to deny winger Michael Kightly, but bar dealing with crosses in a composed manner he was rarely called upon.

There are big questions to be asked by the club’s leadership, though, as the side’s winless start to the campaign continues and games lost when they have shown a certain amount of control.

Could this be Mark Hughes’ last match as QPR manager?
