According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City have upped their scouting of Shakhtar Donetsk duo Willian and Fernandinho following the side’s impressive showings in the Champions League.

Willian, 24, has been the target of bids from both Chelsea and Tottenham this year and furthered his reputation with two goals against the Blues in a narrow 3-2 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Now, the report suggests that Manchester City have joined the player’s burgeoning fan club, with Fernandinho – who scored against Chelsea in Ukraine – also on the watchlist.

The paper quotes Willian as telling reporters this week: “Chelsea and Spurs have made offers for me in the past. Who knows what will happen in the future?

“Maybe they will come back. At the moment all I am thinking about is Shakhtar and helping them to qualify for the next round of the Champions League.

“But I have always thought that one day I want to play for a big club in England, Spain or Italy, so it’s very important for me to play so well against such an important team as Chelsea.”
