Internacional captain Andrés D’Alessandro was delighted by the news that defender Bolívar is likely to return to the side for Sunday’s clash against Ponte Preta.

D’Alessandro, 31, is good friends with the Brazilian defender and believes he is an important member of the squad.

He told Lancenet: “I’m talking about a guy who means a lot to the group. Bolívar is the guy I spoke with many times, he always helped me. I became very good friends with him. We have a friendship on and off the field.”

The 32-year-old defender has been out of the team recently, but D’Alessandro praised the player for his dedication while injured.

“He was in the locker room, continued with the group, in training, helping the younger players, talking with the older players. Never gave up his responsibility. It’s what makes me calm.”

Internacional are currently in joint 6th place with Botafogo in the Brasileirão on 51 points.
