Despite Chelsea flying high in the Premier League and the Brasileirão drawing to a close, Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo is unsure of who of the bookies favourites will have the advantage going into the Fifa Club World Cup in Japan this December.

The competition is drawing ever closer and the Chelsea boss admitted that it will be an important competition for his team this season. However, the Italian has some reservations over how his players will cope with the time change between Yokohama and London.

At the press conference ahead of Chelsea’s important Champions League fixture against Shakhtar Donetsk, Di Matteo was asked if he felt his team would hold the advantage over Copa Libertadores winners Corinthians, given that they will be half way through their league campaign and not at the end like the Brazilians.

He said: “I do not know who takes advantage. We are playing every three days. This helps the pace of play, but I do not know if it’s an advantage or not. Let’s wait and see. What I think is important is to come to Japan as soon as possible to adapt to the time zone. This is something really fundamental.”
