Palmeiras boss Gilson Kleina believes his side need to win their four remaining games to avoid relegation from the Brasileirão.

The 44-year-old coach took over at the Verdão following the dismissal of former Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari in September.

Palmeiras are currently 18th in the league and seven points from safety, following a 2-2 draw at home to Botafogo on Sunday.

Gilson Kleina said: “In this situation you have to give everything.

“We are in a difficult place but the team has played well.”

The former Ponte Preta coach also said that his side need a miracle against league leaders Fluminense next week , as a defeat could hand Flu the title and relegate the Alviverde.

He added: “I’m full of positives. If you depend on it, the miracle will happen. The cohesion already exists.

“I doubt that many teams above us in the table have created as many scoring chances as we create.”

Palmeiras also have games against Flamengo, Santos, and 20th-placed Atlético Goianiense to determine their future in the top flight of Brazilian football.
