Atlético Mineiro’s coach Cuca has refused to concede defeat in the title race against Fluminense after losing 1-0 to Coritiba.
The coach spoke to reporters after the match: “It’s not over, the players are speaking in the heat of the moment.
“Fluminense have a huge advantage, but it’s not lost yet. While the possiblity is still there, we will fight.”
Cuca also praised his players for their performances this season: “We appreciate what they are doing in the league and getting a guaranteed spot in the Copa Libertadores.”
After last night’s defeat, Atlético are now nine points behind title leaders Fluminense with just four games left to play.
A win for Fluminense in the next round would all but secure the title after they drew 1-1 with São Paulo last night.
