Neymar has stated that his hat-trick and assist during Santos’ 4-0 win over Cruzeiro was a historic day in his career.
The 20-year-old’s three goals took his tally to 12 in the Brasileirão this season, giving him the best overall goals to game ratio despite numerous absences.
Neymar was applauded off the pitch by the Cruzeiro fans after the game, after they had chanted his name throughout the 90 minutes.
He told reporters: "Today is a historic day and I'm so emotional that I could cry," Neymar said after the match.
"I will carry what the Cruzeiro fans did today in my heart forever. Now I see Cruzeiro like my second home, I am really moved. The feeling is marvellous and it's why playing football is such a joy."
The Seleção star was one of the 23 players shortlisted for the FIFA Ballon d’Or award recently, alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
