Flamengo striker Adriano has been filmed giving a speech at a club the night before he missed training again.

The club’s director of football Zinho confirmed yesterday that the striker had failed to show up but refused to comment on the reasons behind his absence.

However, it now seems that the 30-year-old made a late-night appearance at a Rio de Janeiro venue on Thursday, which appears to be why he did not show up at training on Friday.

The former Brazil international, who is currently recovering from ankle surgery, has already exceeded an agreement with Flamengo that he would miss no more than three training sessions.

“I"m just here to represent," Adriano told the crowd on Thursday night. “Everyone knows that I always loved Flamengo, and that"s something that no one will ever take away from me."

“I"m from the slums. You can all say what you want. Born and raised at Vila Cruzeiro. You got that?"

Adriano, who is set to meet with club officials on Tuesday morning, concluded by suggesting his words would later appear in the media.

He said: “I just want to say that I love my people, I love Flamengo. And here I am.

“If something comes out on the press [on Friday], you know what happened. I know that this is going to be on the internet tomorrow. I"m from the slums! Thanks, love you."
