Arsenal full-back André Santos was the focus of intense criticism once more on Saturday, as his side slumped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Although the sides were separated by just one goal, the scoreline was flattering for Arsenal, who could have found themselves further behind had the hosts taken their chances in-front of goal.

André Santos, although not directly responsible for either goal, was once more the focus of intense scrutiny and failed to raise his performance levels, finding himself consistently beaten by Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia.

His inability to deal with the Ecuadorian was not aided by the lack of protection afforded by left-sided winger Lukas Podolski, who was content to allow full-back Rafael to overlap for the entire game.

For the hosts, former-Grêmio midfielder Anderson also made an appearance and quickly had the ball in the back of the net, but saw his goal correctly disallowed for offside.
