Atlético GO's coach admits defeat in relegation battle

Atlético Go's coach Artur Neto has admitted defeat in their battle to escape the relegation zone with five games left to play in the Brasileirão.
Neto told reporters after their 4-0 defeat to Botafogo: "We have to assume that we will be relegated and have the humilty to acknowledge mistakes. We failed in four competitions and had a disastrous year. Not since 2007, have we had a year like this. We need a big overhaul.
"We need time, plan and start from scratch to return to Serie A next year."
Speaking of the defeat to Botafogo, Neto said: "It was a fair result. Botafogo had more quality, we felt tired after the last game. We conceded the second goal before half time and we had more difficulties after the break."
The coach looked devastated at Atlético's situation: "I started a phase of reconstruction at Atlético, with the conquest of titles and access to Serie A. Now that is over, this is the reality, we were unable to recover this season. This reflects badly on my record at the club."
Atlético GO are rooted to the bottom of the Brasileirão, 14 points from safety. Failure to win against Corinthians in their next fixture will officially relegate the club to Serie B.
