Botafogo's Andrezinho praises young striker Bruno Mendes
Botafogo attacking midfielder Andrezinho has praised young striker Bruno Mendes for his impact since joining the club.
Bruno Mendes, 18, moved to the Alvinegro from Série B side Guarani in September and has scored four goals in his last four appearances, including a wonderful brace in victory over local rivals Vasco.
The starlet has quickly settled into life at the Rio de Janeiro club, which came as a surprise for the Botafogo players, in particular Andrezinho.
The 29-year-old said: "Bruno is a boy who surprised the group. He adapted very quickly not only on the field but also in the group.
"We know he can be substantially improved, as he gradually wins more games and gains experience."
Bruno, who has been strongly linked with Juventus in the Italian media, has recently praised the club’s fans for his progress at the club.
The teenager said: "[The support] is a reflection of the work I've put in. The fans have seen the dedication that I have shown on the pitch. I will continue working to show my best and I hope to stay as a regular."
Botafogo are currently seventh in the Brasileirão and are dreaming of Copa Libertadores qualification, but are still eight points from fourth-placed São Paulo.
