Corinthians to monitor troubled star Matías Defederico before making a decision on his future

Corinthians director of football Edu Gaspar says the club will continue to monitor the recovery of their troubled Argentine forward Matías Defederico before making a decision on the player’s future.
Defederico, 23, has just one year left on his contract and is currently trying to get his career back on track with Huracán, the club where he started his career, after recovering from addiction to poker, insomnia and depression, as well as a serious knee injury.
Edu told Rádio Bandeirantes: "Everything will depend on him. He is starting to recover. If he were to play well there (Huracán), and develops very well then we will see.
"If you are into the idea of the technical committee, he has a contract and we have to enjoy it the best way possible. If he does not evolve, the we will make a decision."
Defederico moved to Corinthians in 2009 for $4 million after impressing with Huracán, where he formed an exciting partnership with Javier Pastore, now of PSG. However, the move did not work out on the field and he was sent to Independiente on loan.
