Grêmio head coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo has admitted that his striker Kleber is struggling for form at the moment having gone 8 games without a goal, but is hopeful he can rediscover his touch in Wednesday night’s Copa Sul-Americana tie against Barcelona (EQU).

Luxemburgo doesn’t believe there is much to worry about though, he told Lancenet: “There is not much explanation. Football explains. If he starts to score Wednesday and Saturday, then well done. Football explains everything. We do not worry about it. It is natural that this happens in football.”

Kleber has just 5 goals in the Brasileirão this season, which is 1 less than midfielder Elano, who only joined the club half-way through the season, and the same as Leandro, a young player who has been in and out of the side, and André Lima, who has been heavily criticised by the fans. However, Luxemburgo trusts Kleber to come good and will stick by his striker.

“Kleber is failing to score, so we have to give him chance. If I don’t pick him on the team he does not score. If he plays then he has a chance to score, which is what he has to do. The charge is normal, football works this way.”
