Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Willian has confirmed that he received offers from both Chelsea and Tottenham this summer, with Spurs boss Andre Villas Boas still in contact.

Willian, 24, was the star of the show on Tuesday night as the Ukranian champions ran out comfortable 2-1 winners over Chelsea at the Donbass Arena and later spoke to reporters over a potential transfer.

The former Corinthians man has previously made clear his desire to leave his present employers, but for the moment no-one has matched the near £30 million fee demanded by the Shakhtar management.

He told The Sun: “Andre always sends me messages and he has become a friend, for sure.

“There were two offers in the summer — one from Chelsea and one from Tottenham. Choosing between the two clubs would be difficult.”

Current Spurs manager Villas-Boas also made an attempt to sign the playmaker during his brief tenure as Chelsea boss back in January.
