Arsenal fullback André Santos played the full 90 minutes in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Norwich but has found first team chances hard to come by this year and has spent the majority of season on the bench due to the great form of Kieran Gibbs.

Today stories coming out of Turkey are reporting that the former Fenerbahçe star is a transfer target for their fierce city rivals Galatasaray. Lütfi Arıboğan, CEO of the Istanbul giants, has admitted their interest in the player.

He said: “A proposal is possible. André Santos is one of the names on our list of reinforcements.”

Santos, 29, has admitted that he has found it difficult not playing every week. He told the club’s official website: “Of course it is hard not playing. At every club I’ve been at I’ve always played regularly.

“It is difficult to be on the bench, but we are a team and this is a very healthy competition. We are always talking about it before and after training.

“Kieran is good friend and an exceptional player, and I know I have qualities too. I’ll just keep working hard so I can be back on the pitch regularly.”
