Flamengo striker Adriano medically cleared to play

After playing in his first practice match in a Flamengo shirt, against Audax, on Thursday, Flamengo striker Adriano showed that he is still a long way from being ready to make an official debut for the the club but the positive news is that the team doctor, Jose Luiz Runco, declared the player medically fit to play.
Runco said: "For the medical part Adriano is okay, but for his debut he now needs to work on the fitness and tactical part too. He is medically okay and did not complain of pain in the Achilles tendon area where he had surgery."
Paulo Henrique, assistant coach of Flamengo, said the former Inter Milan star had a performance in line with expectations and that his debut with the team depends on the development of the players fitness.
"He did as well as is possible. He played 60 minutes of the game and at the end felt tired, but he is on schedule. He has dedicated a lot," explained Henrique.
However the coach made it clear that it depends entirely on Adriano working and getting himself in shape before he makes it into the first team, and admitted they will not pressue him with a target date.
"We hope that he will come back as soon as possible, but we still have nothing scheduled. The game was played so we could see the evolution of it, it's going well. Now it's up to Adriano if he is good or not. A physical evolution causes improvements in the technical part." he added.
